Dana Point Beach House - Ground Floor

Perfect family vacation spot. You never have to leave OR just a short drive to restaurants and other beaches! Very clean and well stocked with essentials. We look forward to coming back!

The location is a 10/10. But most of the house is pretty run down and worn out. Not enough silverware. Coffee mugs have micro cracks and leak. It could be made much better by 1. Get some new silverware 2. Get a new dining table. The seats are low relative to the table which was uncomfortable for me and tough for our shorter folks. 3. New coffee mugs. 4. New glassware 5. Decent outdoor furniture. The house has an amazing location RIGHT ON THE BEACH!!! But the seating isn't inviting at all. So we chose to sit inside more which was kind of a bummer. I think a few small investments would greatly improve this house. Oh, lastly, you can't use the microwave, coffee maker and toaster at the same time. You find this out when you get there. But I think it should be disclosed ahead of time.

Beautiful location! Close to the water great to watch from the patio but access to the beach requires you to climb down the rocks. We loved the location

Loved listening to the waves crashing during the night since the windows were cracked open. First thing in the morning found half of our party just drinking coffee on the patio and watching the ocean for hours (and the container ships)...what a great way to relax. It was easy to go in and out of the gates. We even cooked out on the grill one night as we were all tired from the days activities. It was close to the back-yard wedding we came for. The large bedroom with all the bunks let the bride have a last night with girl friends that flew-in with no place to stay. We keep thinking about that patio every morning since coming home. Several of us are ready to move in.

Expect a great private beach stay.

What an amazing view!! We had a fabulous stay. Our host was especially helpful so we could bring our elderly parent there. We never left ! We played cards for hours on the deck or inside with our fabulous view Beds were so comfortable. Plenty of towels and paper goods. We loved staying and hope to return ! Kathy and Mark

My family and I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay! It was close to our favorite restaurants even having them close it was nice to just stay at the house and take in all the beauty! It was a great stay and would recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing family vacation.

This place was a dream It’s gonna be hard to imagine staying any where else on our travels to California. Our kids had a blast and there was plenty of space. So much great food nearby. It feels so safe because of the gated entrance. This place was awesome!

An older home but was so quiet and comfortable. We loved it!

*** BEWARE*** Where do I start? When a property is presented as going through Airbnb’s COVID cleaning protocol and commands almost $1000 a night, one would assume, EXPECT - DEMAND that it would be clean and maintained. Well that was not our experience AT ALL! We walked into a house with bug/mouse droppings in the kitchen cabinets, a strange white powder substance on the bathroom floor, a dishwasher that doesn’t work and they will tell you that no one has told them, blood stained towels, dishes that are filthy and much more that would never be passed as clean. In their defense, as soon as I told them, they arranged for the cleaning team to come by and clean the entire house and wash all the dishes. Pamela said she would send a repairman to fix the dishwasher since it was 1st time she’d heard of it (even though other reviews state that it didn’t work). That repairman didn’t materialize. Then to top it off, it rained and the leaks started. They’re everywhere. The response was “this is California. It rarely rains here”. At that point we left. Days before our scheduled departure. Checked into another Airbnb that was amazing. They said that the pictures clearly showed a 70’s style beach house - which it is. They didn’t say, that nothing is maintained. Mold stains, screen doors that don’t work, no water pressure in the main shower, and a nasty moldy/mildew smell. This place had some serious potential. Great location, security at gate, amazing breathtaking view, and centrally located. They will probably say that “he just couldn’t be made happy- no matter what” or something to that affect. No one would accept any of the issues we encountered. If only i could post pictures of what we encountered. I contacted Airbnb and they stepped in to mediate. If anyone books this place, I highly recommend that the owners put up some kind of cleanliness guarantee that would provide you some comfort that you will be clean. Hope this helps someone.

Location, location, location. What a cool little beach community within easy distance of great groceries and restaurants. This is an older house but has been cared for and is in good condition with a stocked kitchen, several lounging areas, and a great deck and beach (light bouldering required to get down to beach). We will definitely be back and hoping to see new beds in the two private bedrooms when we do.

This is a perfect house for a big family. The luxury of having the beach so close was amazing. From watching the pelicans and seagulls in the morning, enjoying a swim in the ocean in the afternoon to watching the high tide come in was absolutely everything we wanted in a vacation home. There was a fire not too far from us the first night and Pamela quickly reached out to me after asking her what we should do and was very reassuring. It is definitely an older themed house. The only thing that surprised me was the beetles at night on the back patio. I’m in general scared of bugs so it was a little traumatizing. Once I realized they aren’t crawling on the chairs and really leave you alone all was well. The house was equipped with everything needed for the beach and so many towels which was perfect. 10 out of 10 I will be returning next year.

We had a wonderful family vacation here! This home has all the necessary beach items to enjoy the outside - which we did and especially loved the large patio! Swimming, bogie boarding, surfing and long walks on the beach were all done daily! The 3 different lounging areas in the home were perfect for our family to spread out and relax! We brought our bikes and enjoyed the bike path to San Clemente Pier! This was the perfect home for our family of 7 adults and 1 toddler! The fam wants to make this our yearly getaway place! :) Thanks Pamela and Christopher for providing a great stocked home!

Amazing location!!! Our family had fun boogie boarding and hanging out on the beach at low tide. Everything was as advertised. There were many places in the house and on the patio to hang out and enjoy time together. Such a great space and so much fun!!

This vacation was a vacation for the books! The view amazing, home clean and comfortable, beds extremely comfortable. All the amenities you could ever want!

The home is very cozy with ample room for big families!! We’ve stayed several times and enjoy it so much!! It’s always well stocked with bedding, towels and cleaning supplies. Plus, the WARM shower outside of the house is such a lifesaver & makes for a cleaner stay. Just a heads up that the kitchen is pretty narrow with only room for about 2 people at a time.. The hosts are always very responsive and the location is AMAZING!! - We will definitely keep coming back😊

This place was amazing! The view was incredible. Pam was easy to get a hold of, I mentioned to her that the microwave was not working & she came to replace it right away. The home was clean & the access to the beach was very convenient. The workers next door made us steps with sandbags so we wouldn’t have to cross the rocks to get down. We had everything we needed. Will definitely be staying here again.

This house is nicely located right on the beach great for sitting on the deck while kids play on the beach no hauling of items needed. Very roomy and comfortable. Just bring your food etc and enjoy your stay. My grandkids loved it.

Our group made lifelong memories in Pamela’s beach house on Dana Point. Plus, we went shopping and wine tasting close by.

Overall, our stay was great. The inside could use some improvements, but our main reason for renting the house was for the beach access. The patio and direct beach access was awesome! We enjoyed the outside the whole time! Communication with Pamela and Christopher was very easy too. They were always quick to respond to any questions we had.

Location was outstanding, but the house was less than expected. The hosts were responsive and lovely.

My kids and I very much enjoyed our time here. The access to the beach was awesome and the availability of the deck chairs and boogie boards were so nice to have. We enjoyed just sitting outside and enjoying the ocean and beautiful sunsets. I very much enjoyed the space and our large group fit very well there. The hosts were very easy to communicate with and quick to respond to my questions. Would definitely stay there again!!

We had a great stay and really couldn't have asked for more! Great view and location on the beach and just enjoyed the time with our family and our son's girlfriends. Thank you also to Chris and Pamela for their helpful information and help with everything from parking spaces to tips on area stores and contacting the guards when we had an issue with one of my son's getting access to enter the community. The only downside to the experience was the loss of my wife's car keys and fob for work. Nonetheless, the overall experience was memorable and fun times!

Solid place with a great location on the beach. It was as advertised in the listing. Owners were quick to reply with questions. Checking in and out was a breeeeeeze. It suited our family meet up perfectly as kids had their bunk room and two sets of adults had their own rooms.

This is a beach house, right on the beach. There's a bunk room in the back for sleeping which the kids love. The house is well stocked and we sipped coffee while watching the ocean in the mornings.

We have rented many beach houses over the years for Super Bowl weekends and this by far was the best view! The windows looking out were amazing! We loved the private deck outside! Plenty of space for the kids to have their win fun in the bunk room and play in the sand outside!

The house is perfectly located on the beach with an amazing patio! I loved the seclusion, location, and privacy of this place!

We so loved staying in this beach house! It is right on the ocean, and the kids had such a great time playing at the beach. We really appreciated that the hosts had boogie boards for the kids to use. The house is charming and cozy, yet spacious, with everything we needed for our stay. Chris and Pamela were very responsive to any questions we had, and check-in was super easy. Growing up in the area, I had always dreamed of having a house on Beach Road, and although I haven't won the lottery yet, being able to stay at this house even for a few days was like a dream come true!

Easily 5 stars because of the location & set up - the only potential negative thing is that it’s a gated community and they are incredibly strict about who comes in. I wanted a local friend come and pick me up for dinner but they wouldn’t let him in so I had to walk a half mile to the gate. Just something to keep in mind!

We really enjoyed our stay. This is a beautiful home with an awesome view of the ocean and a great beach to relax on. We even got to see a pod of Doliphins from the back porch! The kids had a ton of fun and us Parents were able to relax. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your home!!!

Our family had a fantastic stay. The location and beach access was great. My family took full advantage of the boogie/surf boards, beach chairs, sand toys, and the lounge chairs provided. We had everything we needed and plenty of space for our very large blended family to reconnect and make memories. We were prepared for the rocks on the beach but they were not as bad as we had expected them to be. Still plenty of sand for sand castles and laying out.

Great location with private beach access, plenty provided for use from towel qty to various beach boards, wet suits and sand toys.

This was an amazing beach house. The location was perfect. It was easy to get to restaurants. The private beach was the best! We loved boogie boarding, surfing, and laying on the sand. The fire pit was also a huge plus. I would highly recommend it and would love to stay here again sometime.

Loved the private community feel. People were friendly. The beach is rocky but literally steps from the house…and it’s the beach! Love it.

We absolutely loved staying here the sounds of the waves and the spectacular views .. the house was spacious and comfortable, we actually felt sad to leave .. recommend this house .. Although there were fans all around the house we did sometimes felt a bit hot and hoped it had AC .. we also appreciated the shower outside to wash off after swimming in the sea and clean the sand off Plenty of seating to enjoy the beach and sunset .we loved the fire pit located outside overlooking the beach ..

Everything was great on our family trip to Dana Point. Great location, great neighborhood and awesome beach access while still close to downtown Dana Point. The host Chris was very responsive and professional. We will be back again!

Perfect for a relaxing stay without feeling was too fancy to use. Bathrooms were clean and functional-remodelled bathroom is fantastic and the older bathroom is absolutely fine. Lots of towel racks. The kitchen was well stocked, many cooking essentials including some spices, oil, foil, etc. Tap water is fine to drink. No washer and dryer but that was not an issue for our 4 day stay. Train tracks are very close. Trains are (all?) commuter trains which don't make a lot of noise pass quickly. I usually wake up to noises but didn't notice the train through the night at all, probably doesn't run most of the night anyway. The ocean noise background noise really helps. The beach is hit-and-miss. Pub. beach is short walk. At house the big rocks require some scrambling to get to the water. Easy for kids, care required for seniors. "Beach" is sand in places and river rocks (<=golf ball size) hard on old feet and in the high tide surf. Great place to learn to surf. Wetsuits recommended.

This was the perfect place to celebrate my mother's 92nd birthday! We all loved the location and setting. The seating area on the patio was a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the ocean views and sounds. Christopher was very responsive to our questions. Hope to be back someday in the future!

We really enjoyed our stay!

Exceed our expectations! Very spacious, everything was functional, and a great location. A generous amount of towels. Nothing skimped on. Chris and the cleaners even let us check-in an hour early which sure seems rare these days. We didn’t see a washer and dryer but thought we read there would be one. Wasn’t a big deal since we were only there a few days. Really surprised at the great beach toys provided, some functional surf boards and even some brand new boogie boards!

Gorgeous location. Plenty of seating to enjoy the view indoors or out. An amazingly serene spot to relax and enjoy epic sunsets. Kids/teens enjoyed the bunks in the back and having their own space. Appreciated the surf/boogie boards and chairs. I can’t say enough great things about this place. We’ll be back!

This was amazing. We will come back when we have more time to actually just enjoy the home. We had a lot of things planned and this would be great to just go relax. I honestly felt right at home, didn't need anything and loved listening to the ocean as I slept.

This quaint beach cottage could not have been more perfect. We got to wake up and go to bed with the ocean waves each day. Enjoy a fire on the water and plenty of space for our family to stay comfortably. An extra bonus was a neighbor dog, “Tucker,” who came to visit us daily for some pets.

My son and his friends stayed for three nights. They reported that the property was “perfect” - great location, clean, loved the beach access. They also played golf while there and loved that the course was about 10 mins away. Christopher was excellent at communicating regarding check-in and any other questions we had. My son already wants to go back!

The house is precisely as described and depicted in the photos. Located on a private beach on a guard gated road between Dana Point Harbor and San Clemente, Whale Rock is a great place to relax and unwind.

Christophers home on the ocean is perfect. There’s a great location, which is coosw to Dana point and San Clemente, and has a private road leading to it with security. The home is spacious and laid out well. The perfect beach house. We walked on the sandy beach and enjoy the view for the weekend and would love to come back if we’re in the area again. I doubt we would even look at another location if Christopher‘s home is available.

Wonderful on the beach experience with our kids and grandkids.

This was the perfect place for our family gathering. We all relaxed while enjoying the view. Some boogie boarded. Some flew a kite. We all took numerous walks on the beach. The house was well-equipped with everything we needed. It had various areas for conversation or to just relax. Good vibes.

Had an amazing experiences. Two families, 4 kids, 13-16. Great location, firepit is great, being right on the beach is epic. Host was easy to communicate with throughout and he had great recommendations for anything we needed.

The location and feel of safety in the area was perfect. One note to make sure you pay attention to is the fact that this listing is a retro 1970's place. There is a lot about the inside that could really use upgrading, but it's not that the description isn't clear, it's just that I didn't quite hone in on that when booking. The kitchen is crazy small, but does have everything you need. The main bathroom and bedding could really use a refresh, but nothing was bad, just outdated. This listing is only the bottom floor, but there is plenty of room - do know that these houses are RIGHT next to your neighbors. Luckily neither side was around during the week we were there otherwise we would have been feeling like we were having to share our time with the people around us. But the beach is awesome and the ability to hear the waves from even the bedrooms near the back of the house is ideal. Overall, it's a great place - just manage your expectations and you'll be happy!

great place for quiet getaway. had a few bonfires in the fire pit, and the rooms on the ocean are very comfortable so you feel like you're right there by the water whether you're inside or out. like maybe everything else along the coast, you do hear the trains go by, but they did not bother me.

We had a wonderful getaway at the beach house. It is definitely older and old surfer vibe inside which is neat. There was plenty of space in the bottom unit for our two families (4 adults, 2 teens and 4 kids) staying and we enjoyed being right on the beach. Everything worked as expected and the only issue we ran into was the amount of people being able to be in the kitchen at the same time, which is 1 maybe 2! lol Christopher also answered any questions I had in a timely manner and was a great host! It was a great introduction to California and we would definitely stay again and maybe also rent the whole house with more family! The whole town looked really cute but we honestly didn’t do any exploring other than the grocery store because we were so content to just relax and let the kids play in the sand and water! There were plenty of sand toys to play with along with some boogie and surf boards that they tried out as well!

Location can’t be beat, right on the beach. The gated community feels very safe and the guards at front are friendly. The home is funky with some upgrades and some old school original rooms. We absolutely loved the outdoor space and could stare at the ocean for hours looking at pelicans and dolphins. The living room is great for large groups and floor to ceiling windows offer panoramic ocean views. The kitchen is small, really only room for one person actively cooking. All linens were clean, beds were quite comfortable. We had one small issue with a fridge leak and the host was very responsive.

Spectacular ocean front location! It was perfect for our family vacation.

I Had an amazing birthday weekend at Christophers air b n b. We were right on the water. There was incredible views of the ocean, we even saw dolphins every morning! The fire pit was fun to do s’mores on. We had a great time. Christopher was a great host, very responsive and easy to communicate with. We definitely want to book again in the future thank you guys so much!!

This is a true California Beach House--right on the water with all the views and sounds to go with it! Location is great and our stay was good. I gave the owner a few suggestions that would make the stay Awesome! The house is older and has some quirky things associated with that. It was clean and comfortable and we had no problems getting into the gated community. Be aware, the house next door is going through some major construction and the associated noise started earlier than we expected on the weekdays. The patio was our family's favorite spot and much time was spent out there soaking in some sun and playing in the ocean. The owners have some boogie boards and surf boards for use! All in all, a really great stay!

Loved the place. Rented the lower unit of duplex. Interior a bit dated but clean and very functional. No reason to be inside other than to sleep either - the pati and fire pit and beach front are where we spent the majority of our time. You can’t get much closer to the crashing waves than this place. We loved it and will be back again and again.

I am moving out of town and was looking for a cozy farewell. The house was rustic and warm. Location was beautiful and exceeded all of our expectations. We had great weather, great waves, and overall a great home. The location was beautiful and Chris was incredibly accommodating, attentive, and responsive. 100% would come back again.

It was great to stay with such proximity to the beach. The hosts were very responsive and asked us if there was anything we needed during our week-long stay. Home is a little dated and the kitchen is very small, but none of that mattered for our stay. We were very comfortable and had a great time.

We had a great time! The view in the back was amazing! I couldn’t believe how close to the water we were. We even saw whales jumping in the distance one day.

When staying at a Airbnb I personally enjoy my families privacy & quite relaxing time as our kids are loud enough all on their own. It was never mentioned the next door neighbors house being under major construction & that sense of quite and privacy went out the window. Additionally the hosts parents live up stairs as typically I do think they are lovely ppl, talking to them it did come at inconvenient times & again we enjoy our privacy and would rather not see owners on three seperate occasions on our short two day stay. This has nothing to do with anything with the owners or hosts but hopefully a help for future renters the stairs that got washed away are a total must. Its the only house we could see that didn't have stairs to beach. Rocks were uncomfortable to go down to the beach our little ones stopped wanting to go down to the beach altogether Tide ruined fire pit area & created a bit of a hazard by day two. inside home just as described "Vintage". I recommend for adults only.
